Ted Bundy, a horrific serial killer of America, has always been a matter of intrigue in movies and series like Hunting Ted Bundy, Serial Killer, Every Young Man’s Battle, etc. He was in a relationship with many women, and with one of them, he had a child. Rose Bundy, the Ted Bundy daughter, was born on 24th October 1982.
Carole Ann Boone, the mother of Rose or Rosa Bundy, married Ted Bundy in a courtroom in 1982. Ted’s proposal was dramatic and took place in the midst of his “high-profile” trial.
Ann Rule, the author of “The Stranger Beside Me,” has penned a detailed account showing how the proposal to Carole Ann Boone, the marriage, and the conception of Rose Bundy took place during the trial period of the criminal.
There were a lot of rumors when Carole Ann Boone got pregnant. Everyone was speculating how she could get pregnant with Ted Bundy, as conjugal meets were not allowed. However, The Deseret News published an article in 1981 that had Carole mentioning, “it’s nobody’s business” to discuss her pregnancy with the death row inmate.
Even before birth, Rose Bundy lived a life under the radar. So, what is known about her, and how is she leading her life now? Here is a brief account.
Ted Bundy Daughter: Was Rose The First Child He Parented?
Ted Bundy has a daughter. However, Rose Bundy was not the first child he parented. He parented Elizabeth Kloepfer’s or Liz Kendall’s daughter, Molly. Molly was Elizabeth’s daughter from her previous marriage.
Elizabeth was one of the most important female figures in Ted Bundy’s life. In 1981, she published her memoir “The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy.” This book is an account of her relationship with Ted.
Elizabeth loved Ted, and she also built a family with Ted. Joe Berlinger, the man behind the Confessions of a Serial Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, says,
"There was this nice family unit of three going sailing, going camping, going hiking, having birthday parties," Berlinger recalled, "but that male figure was Ted Bundy."
Indeed, Ted had an intense and domesticated relationship with Elizabeth, and he was affectionate toward Molly.
You may have questions regarding whether the serial killer was at all eligible for love or not. You may even ask if he could love someone.
Let’s find out what Ted told Stephen Michaud and Hugh Aynesworth, the journalists who visited him in the prison. Reflecting on his past relationships, Ted said,
"It wasn't that I disliked women or were afraid of them. It was just that I didn't seem to have an inkling as to what to do about them. I honestly can't say why."
He also added, “I’ve always preferred women to men, I probably have sixty percent women friends and close to 40 percent men friends. It’s always been divided that way. I enjoy women.”
So, the answer to the question of “Why didn’t he kill her?” for Ted Budy still remains a mystery. It’s indeed surprising why he did not murder Molly, his stepdaughter, and Elizabeth, Carole, or other women he was in a relationship with.
How Carole Anne Boone Got Pregnant?
Despite Carole’s attempt to shut mouths about her conception, rumors did not stop. The Sun made a shocking claim and had its own theory about Carole’s pregnancy. It may sound bizarre how the newspaper narrated Carole transferring an empty condom to Ted through a kiss and then Ted returning the same filled with his semen.
The Netflix show Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes manages to give us a decent or comprehensive account of how she got pregnant with Ted Bundy daughter.
Ann Rule, the biography writer and friend of Ted Bundy, said that the couple used to bribe the prison guards so that they could have sex. It was a common practice among inmates. Carole Ann Boone’s words in the Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes agree with Ann’s version. Boone mentioned how the inmates in the jail did not care about them having sex after a point.
In fact, Boone says the other prisoners “walked in on us a couple of times.” These words burst the bubbles of mystery surrounding Carole Ann Boone’s conception and Rose Bundy’s birth.
What Is Known Of Ted Bundy Daughter?
Rose Bundy, Ted Bundy’s daughter, leads a low-key life. We only learn bits and pieces about her life. People who know him call her kind and intelligent. She has been in the news since even before her birth, and she also has gone through a lot after her father’s conviction and execution on 24th January 1989. Rose was around 7 years old then.
However, she had lost contact with her father a long time ago. In 1986, Carole divorced Ted, and she left for Florida with Rose. She even had James, her son from her previous relationship with her. So, Rose could not maintain any connection with her father.
Further, after the divorce and her shift to Florida, Carole made sure that she and her children did not have any connection with their past lives or anything related to Ted. She even went on changing her and her daughter’s names.
These two have been under the scanner all their lives. They truly deserve some privacy, and we must respect that. As I said, films like Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile, and docu-series like Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes have recently been made about the life of this criminal. None of these show us an account of what Rose Bundy is doing right now.
We don’t even know whether she is aware of these films or series about her father’s life. However, Ann Rule, the biography writer of Ted Bundy’s life, said,
“I have heard that Ted’s daughter is a kind and intelligent young woman, but I have no idea where she and her mother may live. They have been through enough pain.”
Summing Up
Ted Bundy daughter, Rose Bundy, was born in 1982, and she was around seven years old when her father was executed. Carole Ann Boone is her mother, and she conceived the child with Ted Bundy when the latter was on death row.
