Discussions On Returning Parthenon Sculptures Will Not Be Entertained By PM Rishi Sunak!

The UK prime minister canceled his meeting with the Greek prime minister because discussing the Parthenon Sculptures was unnecessary! Rishi Sunak thought that he should have considered the need to discuss something that has already been settled.

The Greek government has already promised not to refrain from discussing the authority or rights of the Parthenon Sculptures. On Sunday, the BBC learned from Kyriakos Mitsotakis that Greece wanted artifacts known as the Elgin Marbles.

It is expected that the British Museum should return the artifacts, including the Parthenon Sculptures, to Greece. At the same time, UK officials said promises were made that no discussion or assurance was if any related topic to the sculptures of Athens would not be discussed on public platforms.

The officials from the Greek government say that no such assurance was given to the UK. The meeting between the Greek and the UK prime ministers was supposed to happen on Tuesday till late afternoon on Monday, but all was smooth. This was long after the BBC interview with Mitsotakis!

Yet, it was informed that Mr. Sunak felt the meeting would be less productive, especially when the meeting agenda differed. He thought it was okay to raise a topic on a public platform that was already settled, and the ownership of the Parthenon Sculptures is one of those topics.

The UK government has argued that no such promises were kept even after the assurances regarding the sculptures and the Marbles. Labor has informed the issue between Greece and the UK as “small-minded” and “Petty”!

A British diplomat, Lord Elgin, brought ancient Greek treasures and artifacts from the Parthenon to Athens in the 19th century. Now that the sculptures are all on exhibition in the British Empire, it has been requested by the Greek government!

The UK government informs that it is already a settled matter, and they want to perform diplomatic talks instead of focusing on sculptures and their ownership.
